Now, Lea Salonga is set to give another pride to the Filipinos. The singer-actress will add another feather to her cap.

She will star in musical drama movie ‘Yellow Rose’ with Tony Award nominee Eva Noblezada.

Their production for the film wrapped last month in Austin, Texas, based on the article published in Variety.

The movie is about a 17-year-old girl (Noblezada) who dreams to be a famous country singer. Her mom was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and she feared the possibility of deportation to the Philippines.

Because of that, she decided to run away and paved her own path in life.

Diane Paragas is the director of the film and it also features Dale Watson, Liam Booth, Gustavo Gomez, Libby Villari and Princess Punzalan.

“With the increased demand for diverse Asian American stories in Hollywood, I can’t think of a better time to develop this film. ‘Yellow Rose’ has been in development for over 15 years, and we’ve selected an incredibly talented cast to help tell this story,” Paragas said.
