Actress Yen Santos has finally broken her silence after being away from the entertainment industry for eight years. In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN showbiz reporter MJ Felipe on June 9, Yen opened up about the reasons behind her long absence and the personal journey she underwent during that period.
According to the actress, stepping away from the spotlight was necessary for her personal growth and healing. Reflecting on her decision, she shared, “Marami lang akong kailangang ayusin sa sarili ko at sa personal kong buhay. Kinailangan ko rin talaga ‘yong time na ‘yon para makabalik ako nang buong-buo sa trabaho,” said Yen.
Yen admitted that the past eight years were far from easy. She described the experience as one of the most challenging periods of her life. “Sobrang mahirap,” she said. “Kaya hindi rin naging madali sa akin ‘yong proseso. Pero kailangan ko siyang pagdaanan para mahanap ko ulit ’yong sarili ko. Kasi pakiramdam ko, maraming nawala. So, kinailangan ko ‘yong mahabang panahon na ‘yon para maging ready ulit,” she added.
The actress explained that she needed time to rediscover herself and regain the confidence and strength required to return to her career. While she acknowledged feeling regret over the opportunities she missed during her years away from the public eye, she emphasized the valuable lessons she learned from her experiences.
For Yen, the journey was not only about overcoming difficulties but also about finding clarity and preparing herself for a fresh start. Her return marks a new chapter in both her personal and professional life.
This is not the first time the actress has resurfaced in public. In August 2025, she appeared in a vlog with former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson. During the vlog, she addressed controversies linking her to Singson, including rumors that they were in a relationship and claims that they allegedly had a child together.
