Bernadette Sembrano Reveals She’s “1 of 11,000 Employees Retrenched”
BERNADETTE SEMBRANO – News anchor Bernadette Sembrano said she is “one of the 11,000 employees retrenched.”
In early May, the legislative franchise of the ABS-CBN expired. The tv network stopped its radio and broadcast operations. The leading tv network in the filed 9 bills with the Congress seeking for a fresh 25-year franchise.
In July, the House of Representatives denied the company’s application and it will stay off the air. With its continued shutdown, the media company said they may start laying off some of its 11,000 workers starting August 31.
ABS-CBN did not state how many of its workers will be affected but they said they will give retirement benefits, separation pay, and provide job placement programs.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, news anchor Bernadette took to social media to reveal that she’s “1 of the 11,000” retrenched employees. She shared that she received a call from her telling her that she was “retrenched as a field reporter.”
“I got a call from my superior and I was told that I was retrenched,” she said.
In her 3-minute video, Bernadette Sembrano shared she woke up “feeling great” after hearing the voice of her friends and good news from Filipino Composers and Song-writers. By noontime, she said her superior told her that she was retrenched.
“Masakit din but this isn’t the first time that this happened to me that I was enjoying the morning and then pagdating ng hapon medyo not so good news…”
“So kung may kirot, may kirot. Kung may sakit, may sakit. Ang sabi ko galing talaga ni God magbalanse ng buhay,” she added.
