Parkour Athlete Expresses Frustration After Vendor Parked Food Cart Blocking Training Area
A parkour athlete has expressed frustration after a food cart was reportedly placed in an area commonly used by young people for practicing parkour, skateboarding, and BMX riding.
Recently, Arnel Rosales, a Facebook user, shared photos and videos showing the food cart occupying part of the space where local youth usually gather for recreational activities. The post quickly gained attention online.
According to Rosales, the area near the post office in Silay City, Negros Occidental, has long served as a practice spot for young athletes. He explained that many skaters, BMX riders, and parkour enthusiasts spend their free time there, using the location as a safe place to train, exercise, and socialize.
Rosales pointed out that other food vendors operating nearby had chosen to park their carts along the side of the area, allowing both businesses and young athletes to share the space peacefully.
He questioned why one particular food cart was placed directly in the section where the youth usually practice.
The parkour athlete also addressed claims that the athletes were causing disturbances near a nearby elementary school. According to him, many of the young people using the area are students and working individuals who simply gather in the afternoons to enjoy their hobbies.
The traceur said they do not use loud equipment and only bring items needed for their activities, such as skateboards, BMX bikes, and athletic shoes.
Rosales added that the group had even offered to help watch over the vendor’s food cart while practicing nearby. However, he claimed the offer was declined due to concerns that the cart’s glass panels might be damaged.
Many residents are now hoping that both the vendor and the athletes can reach a compromise that will allow everyone to share the space respectfully while supporting one another within the community.
