Emergency Room of Tondo Hospital Temporarily Closed Now
TONDO HOSPITAL – The Emergency Room of Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center is temporarily closed now.
The COVID-19 is currently the biggest challenge faced by more than 200 countries and territories across the globe. It is shaking healthcare systems by how rapidly the infection spreads and cases increase.
Out of the over 200 countries and territories, one of them is the Philippines. As of this writing, the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 70,764 cases of COVID-19 in the country with 1,837 deaths and 23,281 recoveries.
Community quarantine measures are still up in the Philippines now. The wearing of face mask and social distancing are also part of the anti-COVID-19 protocols.

Unfortunately, the cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines are increasing. Many hospitals have declared that they are already in full capacity for coronavirus cases and their staff have contracted the disease as well.

Recently, a Tondo Hospital temporarily closed its Emergency Room for disinfection and terminal cleaning. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the COVID-19 ward of Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center is already in full capacity.
According to the Tondo Hospital’s Director, Ted Martin, the hospital has 76 cases related to COVID-19 and 52 of it were already confirmed thus they temporarily closed the ER for disinfection. Based on the report, 53 healthcare workers of the hospital are under quarantine now after contracting the coronavirus disease.
Out of the 53 healthcare workers, four (4) of them are doctors and 12 are nurses. The ER closure will be until Thursday. The management of the hospital is appealing to other hospitals to accept the patients from their hospital.
