Ai Ai Delas Alas Says She Could Not Have Gerald Deported Because of This
AI AI DELAS ALAS – The issue surrounding Gerald Sibayan’s stay in America has resurfaced, prompting AiAi Delas Alas to explain what actually happened to his green card petition.
Ai Ai Delas Alas recently addressed renewed questions about her former husband, Gerald Sibayan, after a netizen noticed that he remains in the United States despite earlier assumptions that he had been deported.
The actress-comedienne was directly asked about Gerald’s current status in America. A netizen remarked, “Si Gerald nasa Amerika pa rin. Akala ko na-deport, eh.”
Ai Ai quickly clarified that deportation was not what happened to her former spouse. She explained, “Ni-revoke ko lang. Hindi ko kaya ipa-deport siya, baka magalit si Lord,” referring to the revocation of the green card petition she had previously filed for Gerald.
The exchange continued when the netizen asked whether revoking the petition was a form of revenge. “So, hindi vengeance ‘yung pag-revoke?” the person asked.
Ai Ai then explained that the revocation was connected to their divorce rather than an act of retaliation. “Kasabay kasi ng divorce ‘yun, matic na revocation,” she said.
Based on her explanation, the actress was referring to the green card petition that she had filed for Gerald while they were still married. Her comments once again brought attention to the former couple’s past relationship, which had frequently made headlines because of their age difference and their public stories about married life.
Ai Ai and Gerald began dating in 2014 before getting married in 2017. After several years together, Ai Ai announced in October 2024 that they had separated.
During her interview with Boy Abunda on “Fast Talk,” Ai Ai also revealed that Gerald was the one who ended their relationship through a text message.
More recently, reports surfaced that Gerald had married his non-showbiz girlfriend in the United States. AiAi responded to the news, saying that she was no longer concerned about what was happening in her former husband’s life.
“Alam naman natin na mangyayari ‘yan. Expected ko na ‘yan nu’ng hiniwalayan niya ako. Kailangan niya na mag-stay sa Amerika kaya kailangan niya na magpakasal,” she said.
Despite moving forward from their past relationship, Ai Ai still expressed a personal wish regarding Gerald’s future relationships. “Sana lang, huwag niyang gawin sa iba ang ginawa niya sa akin.”
Her latest remarks clarified that Gerald’s continued stay in the United States should not be interpreted as proof that he had been deported, while also shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the revocation of his green card petition.
