Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos No Show during Comelec Conference
BONGBONG MARCOS – The camp of former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. spoke on his absence at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) conference.
Several petitions were filed against the presidential bid of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. were filed at the Commission on Elections (Comelec). Some of them were due to the previous tax evasion issue involving the former Senator. The first petitions have already been raffled by the poll body.
Recently, an in-person preliminary conference was set but the former Senator and presidential aspirant was not able to attend the hearing set last January 7, 2022. On Friday, his camp said that his absence is due to his exposure to a COVID-19 positive.
The absence of Marcos Jr. at the Comelec hearing gained different reactions from the people. Video clips of his January 6, 2022 interview which was held at the afternoon also circulated online.
Recently, the camp of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. broke their silence and defended the absence of the presidential aspirant at the conference set by Comelec last January 7, 2022. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vic Rodriguez, the spokesperson of the Senator, said that BBM was having fever and swollen throat but pushed through with an interview last Thursday morning.
Rodriguez further expressed that BBM was advised to rest after the interview due to fever and swollen throat but he continued with another radio interview that worsened his condition. Based on the report, the spokesperson of the presidential aspirant expressed that BBM was “obliged to go in isolation” on the morning of January 7, 2022.
According to Rodriguez, a judgment call was made allowing the presidential aspirant to continue resting as he was in bed after he took his medicines. In his medical certificate, it was reportedly stated that he had a 37.8 Celsius temperature and a swollen throat.
