As one of the country’s brightest sports stars, Alex shared that one piece of advice has stayed with her throughout her journey and has become her personal mantra in every competition.
According to Alex, her parents constantly reminded her never to question her abilities, a mindset that has helped her remain focused despite the pressure of competing against some of the world’s best tennis players.

The young athlete opened up about this during her interview with Kapamilya broadcast journalist and television host Karen Davila on an episode of the latter’s YouTube vlog. During their conversation, Karen asked Alex about the advice from her parents that she considers unforgettable and continues to guide her career.
Alex answered, “My parents always tell me not to doubt. There’s no room for doubt.”
She further explained how deeply those words have influenced her mindset, saying, “And that’s one of the mantras that I carry with me and in every match and every tournament.”
The 21-year-old athlete emphasized that this reminder has remained with her from the beginning of her tennis journey until today, helping her push through every challenge and competition with confidence instead of fear.
Aside from teaching her to believe in herself, Alex also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support she has always received from her family. She said their presence has been one of the biggest reasons she continues to pursue excellence in the sport she loves.
“They are my support system. So it’s really nice to have them,” said Alex.

Alex recently added another remarkable achievement to her growing list of accomplishments after defeating defending Wimbledon champion and former world No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland in the tournament’s third round.
Playing on Centre Court, the Filipina star secured a convincing victory with a score of 7(11)-6(9), 6-2, advancing to the Round of 16 of Wimbledon.
