Gas Stations to Impose Another Oil Price Increase This Week
FUEL PRICE UPDATE – Different gasoline stations in the country are set to impose major oil price increase this week.
Filipino motorists will face another round of fuel price increases this week, with diesel and kerosene expected to experience some of the biggest hikes seen this year.
The Department of Energy (DOE) announced that gasoline prices may increase by as much as P3.65 per liter, while diesel could go up by P10.68 per liter. Kerosene is expected to climb by P11.77 per liter.
The increase comes as international oil markets continue to react to renewed tensions in the Middle East. Rising uncertainty in the region has pushed crude oil prices higher, affecting countries that rely heavily on imported fuel, including the Philippines.
The agency has also encouraged oil companies to explore the possibility of spreading the increases over several days to help reduce the immediate burden on consumers.
The upcoming adjustments arrive only a week after fuel retailers implemented another round of price hikes. Last week, gasoline prices rose by P1.00 per liter, while diesel increased by as much as P4.62 per liter. Kerosene also posted a significant increase of P4.20 per liter.
The continued rise in fuel prices is expected to affect many sectors. Transport operators, delivery services, and businesses that depend on fuel for daily operations may face higher operating costs.
Ordinary motorists are also expected to feel the impact as transportation and other expenses become more expensive.
Despite the situation, the DOE assured the public that there is no shortage of fuel supply in the country. Current petroleum inventories are estimated to be sufficient for about 46 days, providing stability in supply even as global market conditions remain uncertain.
