Female Teacher Found Dead Inside Her Own Home in Naga City
A 28-year-old female teacher who was possibly assaulter has been found lifeless inside her home in Barangay Pacol, Naga City.
According to investigators, the teacher was found lying on the floor near her bed. Police noted that her clothing appeared disturbed, prompting authorities to look into the possibility that a sexual crime may have been committed before her death.
However, officials said they are still waiting for the results of further examinations to determine whether sexual assault occurred.
Police Captain Arnel Azaña, officer-in-charge of Naga Police Station 4, said investigators were able to identify a suspect through the help of CCTV footage and information provided by local residents.
The suspect, identified only as Jason, was reportedly seen on camera near the area. Investigators said an important clue came when the man allegedly adjusted a CCTV camera while leaving the scene.
A tattoo on his hand became visible, helping the police establish his identity. Just hours after the discovery of the crime, officers tracked the suspect in Pasacao, Camarines Sur, and placed him under police custody.
Authorities also recovered several items that were reportedly taken from the victim’s home, including an iPhone, a tablet, and an ATM card. These belongings were later identified by the teacher’s live-in partner.
Initial findings suggest that the victim may have died from suffocation. Investigators believe a pillow may have been used to cover her face, as no other visible injuries were found on her body.
Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo announced plans to strengthen security measures in the area. The city government is considering the installation of a police outpost and additional CCTV cameras in the barangay to improve public safety and assist future investigations.
“Kagaya kahapon, kung hindi dahil sa cctv footage hindi matutunton yung suspek, so napakalaki talagang bagay. Nag-usap din kami ni Councilor Omar [Buenafe] kanina, baka dagdagan ang budget ng lungsod, sa pag-invest sa CCTV at higpitan ang pagpatupad ng ordinansa,” Robredo said.
