#WalangPasok: Class Suspensions for Thursday (July 14, 2023)

Several LGUs Declare Class Suspensions for Thursday (July 14, 2023) Due to Tropical Depression Dodong

WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class suspensions in some areas due to the effects of Tropical Depression Dodong.

Tropical Depression Dodong, the fourth tropical cyclone to hit the Philippines in 2023, loomed over northern Luzon. Dodong has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 75 kph.

Forecasted to cross the region, Dodong initially aimed for Cagayan Valley before veering west-northwestward to the Ilocos Region.

Class Suspensions

Recognizing the potential risks associated with this tropical depression, the suspension of classes in various provinces became a necessity.

recently, Taguig City made a crucial decision to suspend classes across all levels, encompassing both private and public schools on Friday (July 14, 2023).

The announcement was in response to a heavy rainfall warning issued by PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration), highlighting the impact of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon, known as habagat.

With PAGASA issuing a yellow rainfall warning over Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, and portions of Quezon province, the potential hazards associated with the LPA and habagat became evident. Moderate to heavy rainfall was expected to persist for the next 2-3 hours, posing a risk of flooding in flood-prone areas.

“The weather bureau said moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to continue in the next 2-3 hours and warned of possible flooding in flood-prone areas,” the Taguig City government said.

Taguig City government took a proactive approach to safeguard the welfare of students, teachers, and staff.

The local government unit of San Fernando, Pampanga also suspends the classes in all levels while Cagayan halted the classes from pre-school to senior high school.
