Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Gives Message for Her Critics

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President called on her critics and accusers to stop politics and the alleged fake call for accountability and transparency.

The impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Duterte which is allegedly “three years in the making” as per Davao Mayor Baste Duterte has officially started. Three (3) trial days have been held and the impeachment court is led by Sen. Chiz Escudero.

Sen. Escudero’s role as the presiding officer of the impeachment court is backed by the votes of 12 senators from the majority bloc. Eight senators in the minority bloc opposed Escudero’s election citing that it should allegedly be Senate Pres. Sherwin Gatchalian who should preside the impeachment court.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously went to the Senate but did not attend the impeachment trial. She was at the chamber for her meeting with her lawyers. According to Duterte’s camp, it is still a long way to go and it is “too early” to claim victory.

Previously, Vice Pres. Duterte claimed that she is ready if she will be ousted. On the other side of it, she admitted that she can help more people if she’s in the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

House of Representatives

Four impeachment raps were filed against Duterte before the House of Representatives. Two of these complaints were substantial in form, substance, and grounds as per the House Committee on Justice. Here are some of the grounds raised against the Vice President:

  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of  political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte gave a message for her critics and accusers. Based on News5, the Vice President called for a stop on the alleged fake calls for accountability and transparency.

“Itigil na muna natin ‘yung pamumulitika at panawagan nila ng transparency at accountability pero ang totoong pakay nila ay ang kanilang mga sariling political interest,” the Vice President said as per the post.

Recently, her younger brother, Davao Mayor Baste Duterte, reacted to the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
