Authorities Arrest Public School Teacher During Drug Bust Operation
A public school teacher was arrested in Cagayan after he was arrested by the authorities during a buy-bust operation.
The 32-year-old suspect was apprehended in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Ballesteros, following an operation led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 2. The operation was carried out with the assistance of the Ballesteros Municipal Police Station and the Western Cagayan Maritime Police Station.
According to investigators, authorities had been monitoring the suspect before launching the operation. During the arrest, law enforcement officers reportedly recovered a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu.

The confiscated substance weighed around five grams and was estimated to have a street value of about P34,000.
The arrest surprised many in the community because the suspect was working as a teacher, a profession often associated with guiding and educating young people. While authorities have not released additional details about the suspect, the incident has drawn attention online.
Following the operation, the suspect was taken into police custody and was subjected to the necessary legal procedures. Authorities have filed charges against him for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Officials said the arrest reflects the government’s continued efforts to combat illegal drugs in communities across the region. Law enforcement agencies have maintained that their campaign targets individuals involved in the illegal drug trade regardless of profession, status, or background.
PDEA Region 2 officials also emphasized that cooperation among different government agencies remains important in the fight against illegal drugs. Through coordinated operations and intelligence gathering, authorities hope to prevent the spread of prohibited substances and keep communities safe.
Meanwhile, anti-drug operations in the region are expected to continue as part of the government’s ongoing campaign against illegal narcotics.
