Nadine Lustre Explains Why She Is Not Ready to Become a Mom
NADINE LUSTRE – After years of supporting her family, Nadine Lustre revealed why she now wants to focus on herself before taking on another major responsibility.
Award-winning actress Nadine Lustre has candidly shared why she does not currently see herself becoming a mother, revealing that years of carrying the responsibility of supporting her family have greatly influenced her perspective. While she remains grateful for everything she has been able to do for her loved ones, the actress admitted that she now wants to prioritize herself after spending most of her life putting others first.
During her guest appearance on Kylie Verzosa’s Almost Honest podcast, Nadine reflected on how becoming a breadwinner at a very young age shaped many of her personal decisions, including her thoughts about having children.
Nadine Lustre revealed that she started working at just 12 years old through commercials and modeling projects. Her early career enabled her to contribute financially to her household, helping her parents while also supporting the education of her younger brothers.
“I think because I’m a breadwinner kasi. I still am and I’m always going to be proud of that.”
Looking back, Nadine described how meaningful it was to provide for her family even as a child.
“The thing is, I was like a breadwinner from a very young age. I think when I was 12 kasi that’s when I started doing commercials, modeling, ganun, so I was able to put my siblings, my brothers to school.”
She said that being able to help her loved ones has always been deeply rewarding.
“It always felt so good being able to help at that age, you know, that you are going to provide and just help your parents. It felt good. And even until now it feels good.”
However, as the years passed, Nadine realized that much of her life had revolved around caring for other people.
“But I realized that I’ve always been taking care of other people.”
Because of this realization, she expressed her desire to eventually dedicate time and energy to herself.
“As soon as this is all over, I want to take care of myself.”
Nadine also acknowledged that the long years of being a family provider often meant placing everyone else’s needs before her own.
“Being a breadwinner for a very, very long time, it’s like parang you are constantly thinking about other people.”
Nadine Lustre believes this lifelong responsibility is one of the main reasons she does not currently wish to become a mother.
“I feel like I am there and that’s the reason why I don’t really want to become a mom.”
Despite her present outlook, Nadine clarified that she is not permanently ruling out motherhood.
“I’ve always said naman na it’s my decision not to become a mom, but if I do become pregnant, I will commit to it.”
She also emphasized that she remains open to whatever the future may bring.
“I’m not closed off naman.”
During the interview, Nadine also spoke about her relationship with boyfriend Christophe Bariou, sharing that he hopes to have children someday.
“He wants kids, for sure.”
Still, the actress explained that she has many aspirations she wants to fulfill before embracing such a major life commitment.
“I feel like I have so much more I wanna do in life.”
She also shared that she continues to provide financial support for her family and hopes to experience a chapter in her life where she can focus solely on herself.
“I am still supporting my family, so parang gusto ko na ma-feel muna that I’m not supporting anyone for a good period of time.”
Nadine’s recent remarks echo statements she made during an October 2025 interview with TV Patrol, where she admitted that motherhood feels overwhelming because of her years of hard work, career responsibilities, and business commitments.
For now, the actress remains committed to personal growth while acknowledging that her views on motherhood may naturally evolve as her life circumstances change.
