The local government of Quezon City declared class suspensions in all levels of both public and private schools in the area due to Traslacion 2019.
On Tuesday (January 8, 2019), Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista has issued a memorandum declaring class suspensions throughout the city on January 9, 2019 (Wednesday).
Mayor Bautista declared the cancellation of classes due to the Traslacion del Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno or the solemn transfer of the Black Nazarene.
The classes have been suspended due to the threat of security heavy traffic congestion in the city.
Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada has also declared class suspensions throughout the City of Manila due to the feast of the Black Nazarene.
Traslacion is one of the largest religious events in the country that venerates millions of Filipino Catholic devotees.
