JULIUS NARANJO – Guamanian weightlifter and coach Julius Naranjo penned a sweet letter for his wife Hidilyn Diaz for their fifth anniversary.
One year after Hidilyn Diaz won the first weightlifting Olympic gold medal for the Philippines, she and Julius Naranjo tied the knot in a ceremony in Baguio in July. President of Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas Monico Puentevella, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Chairman Emeritus of Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas Manny V. Pangilinan, and Ramon S. Ang of San Miguel Corporation were some of the main sponsors of the couple.
As stated in their invitation, also included in the entourage were former vice president Leni Robredo, actress Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, doctor Vicki Belo, brother Bo Sanchez, Angel Locsin, and Iza Calzado.
Julius Naranjo penned the sweetest letter for the Pinay champ for their fifth anniversary. The coach-trainer began by saying that if they could tell their 5-year story, “we’d be able to make a movie.”
“We’ve experienced the unimaginable and have achieved something [we] never would’ve imagined together. But with all the things we’ve been through, the good and bad, we’ve always [chosen] each other,” he said.

Julius Naranjo continued by saying that they rarely have it easy and that if others understood their story, a different viewpoint would emerge.
“But it only makes our journey even more meaningful and allows us to work on being better people…”
“To more journeys, hardships, pain, and success. Let’s continue to build our future for [us] and for weightlifting. Happy anniversary.”
He ended his letter by using the title “husband.”
