Jake Cuenca Spills the Details of His Three-Month Pursuit of Rabiya Mateo
JAKE CUENCA – Actor Jake Cuenca is no longer keeping quiet about his love life as he reveals how a simple social media interaction eventually blossomed into a relationship with Rabiya Mateo.
Jake Cuenca recently shared details about his relationship with beauty queen and aspiring doctor Rabiya Mateo, revealing that they officially became a couple only last May after a three-month courtship.
During his guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Jake confirmed the status of their relationship. When asked if they were already together, he happily responded, “Kami na.”
Expressing his admiration for Rabiya, Jake said, “I’m really, really proud to say it. She’s an amazing woman, incredible woman and very intelligent.”
According to the actor, their relationship became official during a trip to Hong Kong last month. He invited Rabiya to join him while she was anxiously waiting for the results of her medical school entrance examination at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
Recalling the situation, Jake explained, “She was nervous kasi she’s on the wait list for UST so she didn’t know if she’s gonna get in. It’s not easy so I told her, ‘Why don’t you come to Hong Kong with me? I have work there.’”
The vacation turned out to be particularly meaningful for the couple. While they were enjoying their time at Disneyland, Rabiya received the long-awaited news that she had successfully passed the entrance exam.
“It was truly an unforgettable trip kasi du’n ko rin siya tinanong to be my girlfriend. We’re dating for three months and then, finally, I asked her to be my girlfriend officially,” Jake said.
The actor also revealed how their romance first started. He admitted that Rabiya had been someone he admired for a long time. Once he completed his work commitments, he decided to reach out to her online.
“She’s always definitely been a crush of mine and once tinapos ko ‘yung dalawang programa ko, once I was able to finish my responsibilities, you know, I had to shoot my shot and I messaged her on social media,” he said.
Jake shared that he initially interacted with her posts before sending a message. “I liked a few of her photos first and then finollow ko siya. And then, nagulat ako she followed me back, and then our conversation started from that,” he said.
Beyond her beauty, Jake greatly admires Rabiya’s dedication to education. He praised her decision to pursue a career in medicine, despite having a successful career in the entertainment and pageant industries. He described her commitment to studying at UST Medical School as inspiring and admirable.
Looking ahead, Jake admitted that he can envision a future with Rabiya. “I can see it. I don’t wanna spoil it, ayokong magsalita nang gano’n, but definitely with her, I can really see it,” he said.
For now, the couple is simply enjoying their relationship. As Jake shared, “We’re having so much fun, she brings out the best in me, she brings out the kid in me, we bring out the kid in each other actually.”
