Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano Breaks Silence on Ouster
ALAN PETER CAYETANO – The Senator claimed that he is allegedly still the “legitimate, legal, moral Senate President” of the Republic of the Philippines.
The recent attendance of Sen. Chiz Escudero in the Senate session led to the ouster of former Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano. After reaching a quorum of 12, the senators voted to declare all the positions in the chamber vacant.

Following the vote of the “Solid Bloc 12” to declare all the positions in the Senate vacant, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian was elected as the Senate President Pro Tempore. The following were appointed in the key committees in the Senate:
- Finance: Sen. JV Ejercito
- National Defense and Security: Sen. Tito Sotto
- Public Order and Dangerous Drugs: Sen. Ping Lacson
- Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations (Blue Ribbon Committee): Sen. Erwin Tulfo
- Public Services: Sen. Raffy Tulfo
- Basic Education: Sen. Bam Aquino
- Agriculture: Sen. Kiko Pangilinan
- Health and Demography: Sen. Risa Hontiveros
- Games and Amusement: Sen. Lito Lapid
- Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlements: Sen. Chiz Escudero
- Foreign Relations: Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri

Following the recent session in the Senate, former SP Alan Peter Cayetano immediately aired his side and insisted that he is allegedly still the “legitimate, legal, moral Senate President” of the Philippines.
“Tuloy ang hearing ng Blue Ribbon Committee. I am still the legitimate, legal, moral Senate President of the Republic of the Philippines. There are still functioning committees. We have to hear the testimonies. Invited po pati ‘yung mga gumawa ng ilegal na ‘yun,” Cayetano said based on his live on social media.
The then-minority bloc called for the resignation of former Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano after he was absent for two (2) sessions that did not push through. The then-majority bloc did not arrive for the Senate plenary session twice.

Initially, then-Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano and senators Imee Marcos, Mark Villar, Camille Villar, and Rodante Marcoleta accompanied Sen. Jinggoy Estrada when he voluntarily turned himself to the authorities. He is faced with graft and plunder cases over his supposed multi-million flood control corruption.
After the “Solid Bloc 12” voted to declare all the positions in the Senate vacant during the session today, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian was elected as the Senate President Pro Tempore. Several now-majority senators rejoiced that they can return to work.

For his part, Sen. Chiz Escudero explained his decision to attend the Senate session today. The then-minority previously expressed their openness to welcome the then-majority senators who wanted to switch blocs but except for Cayetano as per Sen. Raffy Tulfo.
