DepEd QC to Teachers: Borrowed Gadgets, Laptops Have to be Returned

DepEd QC Urges Teachers to Return Borrowed Gadgets, Laptops

The Department of Education in Quezon City urged the school teachers to return borrowed gadgets and laptops.

On Wednesday (November 2, 2022), the QC schools division superintendent  Dr. Jenilyn Rose Corpuz instructed the public school teachers in Quezon City to return the gadgets issued to them for the conduct of distance learning.

Corpuz explained that the gadgets have been only lent to the teachers for online classes. The teachers need to return the gadgets as face-to-face classes totally resumed.

Borrowed Gadgets

Gusto ko pong ipaliwanag na noong pandemya po, dahil kailangan ng mga teachers ng ating laptops and use of laboratories, so pinahiram po ‘yung mga ‘yun na ginagamit ng mga bata during the pre-pandemic,” Corpuz said.

The DepEd official explained that the educators need to return the gadgets because the memorandum receipt of the gadgets is under the schools.

According to DepEd’s Administration Memorandum 00-0420-0029, school heads are authorized to release gadgets including tablet PCs, smartphones, computers, and laptops to teachers.

However, the memorandum also requires teachers to return the devices after face-to-face classes resume.

DepEd has also required all public schools to implement full face-to-face classes starting Wednesday (November 2). Schools in areas with disasters and calamities are exempted from the measure.

The official also explained that DepEd will provide other laptops to teachers. “Although hindi pa po kumpleto sa ngayon, pero continuing po ang distribution ng laptops para sa mga teachers,” Corpuz added.
