Marcos Jr. Posts Birthday Greeting for Mom Imelda Marcos as she Turns 97
IMELDA MARCOS – The former First Lady is celebrating her 97th birthday today and Pres. Bongbong Marcos penned a heartfelt message for her.
The Marcoses are undeniably among the most popular Filipino politicians not just in the country but as well as in other nations. Currently, two (2) members of their clan have become the presidents of the country.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ presidency came 36 years after the presidency of his late father, the late former dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., ended. He was ousted through the EDSA People Power Revolution and his ouster truly marked the history of the Philippines.
The Marcos family exiled in Hawaii as they fled from the country. It was only after the death of Marcos Sr. that the remaining members of the family were allowed to return to the Philippines. They managed to return to politics.
After having served as a congressman and as a senator, then Sen. Bongbong Marcos ran for the vice presidency in 2016 but lost to former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. In 2022, they battled again but this time it’s for the presidency and Marcos Jr. won the election.
Former First Lady Imelda Marcos is visibly supportive of the presidency of Pres. Bongbong Marcos despite her old age. In 2024, the Sandiganbayan junked the P276 ill-gotten wealth case against the former First Lady and her late husband, Marcos Sr.
However, currently, it is no secret to the Filipino people that Pres. Bongbong Marcos and her elder sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, are not in good terms. The latter aligned herself with the Dutertes amid the issue between Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and her brother.
Today, former First Lady Imelda Marcos celebrates her 97th birthday. While he is away for a trip to Canada with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not miss to have a heartfelt birthday message for his mother.
