Police Arrested by PNP Over Alleged Involvement in Robbery Extortion Act

The Philippine National Police launched an operation to arrest a police officer over alleged robbery extortion charges.

Over the past few decades, corruption has been one of the major problems not only in the Philippines but also in various regions all around the world. It causes a negative impact to the country’s image and economy.

The Philippine government has been already exerting effort and taking immediate action to prevent such acts but corruption still exist. Greedy officials and public servants are the most involved in some corruption acts including extortion.

Robbery Extortion

PNP integrity monitoring and enforcement group launched an operation to arrest a cop involved over alleged act of extortion in San Mateo Rizal. The operation has been conducted inside the San Mateo Municipal Police Station.

PNP-IMEG director Police Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo said that the suspect has a rank of staff sergeant. The accused is allegedly involved on extorting money from one of the inmate’s wife inside the police station.

The victim exposed the cop for extorting money worth P1, 000 for the release of necessary documents for her husband. The suspect is asking money in exchange for the release of certificate of detention.

The police station conducted an entrapment operation and caught the suspect receiving the cash from the victim during the transactions.

Currently, the policeman has been detained at Camp Crame and would face charges of robbery extortion and administrative case. The police authorities also encouraged the public to report cops involved in illegal activities.
