Construction Worker Lost His Life from Electrocution While Tapping Into Neighbor’s Power Connection
A 49-year-old construction worker lost his life from electrocution after tapping into neighbor’s power line in Padre Burgos, Quezon.
On Wednesday afternoon (July 8, 2026), the worker was helping set up a temporary power connection for a construction site at Barangay Hinguiwin in Padre Burgos, Quezon when the tragic incident happened.
The victim was identified as Rey, a resident of Barangay Sipa in the same municipality. According to the investigation, he had sought permission from the owner of a nearby house to tap into the property’s electrical line to provide power for lighting at the construction area.

While carrying out the connection, Rey reportedly came into contact with a live wire. The accidental contact caused a strong electric shock that left him unconscious at the scene.
People nearby immediately sought assistance after seeing what happened. Responders from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office quickly arrived and provided emergency aid before rushing the victim to the Quezon Provincial Hospital Network in Unisan.
Despite the efforts of rescuers and medical personnel, Rey did not survive the incident. Doctors later declared him dead on arrival at the hospital.

The accident has saddened residents and fellow workers who knew the victim. Many expressed sympathy for his family, who are now mourning the sudden loss of a loved one.
Authorities continue to remind workers and contractors to observe proper electrical safety procedures, especially when handling live wires and temporary power connections. Even routine electrical work can become dangerous if safety precautions are overlooked.
