KUYA KIM ATIENZA – Kapamilya entertainment reporter Gretchen Fullido speaks about Kuya Kim Atienza after 11 years of working with him.
For 17 years, Kuya Kim Atienza has served the loyal Kapamilya supporters by being with ABS-CBN and being the network weatherman. However, when ABS-CBN has failed to secure a franchise and hasn’t been renewed even up to this date, Kuya Kim became one of those artists who jumped off the ship. He is now with the GMA network, the rival of his former network.

In a previous article, the ABS-CBN released an official statement and thanked Kuya Kim for his service, dedication, and passion. As he bid his farewell in TV Patrol, he said iconic “ang buhay ay weather-weather lang” line for one last time and thanked all the people who became a part of his life and made him the “Kuya Kim” that he is now.
He expressed in his message, “Higit sa lahat, salamat sa inyo mga Kapamilya sa pagsubaybay at pagsuporta. Si Kuya kim ay di magiging Kuya Kim kung di po dahil sa inyo.”
And as he leaves, one of his co-workers, Gretchen Fullido, whom he has worked with for 11 years, has made some revelations about him. Turning sentimental, she recalled their good times together and shared, “Ang daming kalokohan at aakyat pa dapat kami ng ABS-CBN Millennium Transmitter (Giant Antenna) kung ma-rerenew yung franchise.”
She even described him as her “dressing roommate, triathlon teammate, KimChen partner, number one alaskador on set, Kuya, and father figure”. She will accordingly miss him for sure and she will remain supporting him in whatever endeavors he would want to take.
Kuya Kim joined the flagship newscast of ABS-CBN in 2006 months after Ernie Baron passed away.
