This is the tear-jerking farewell of Kuya Kim Atienza to ABS-CBN as he confirms his transfer.
KUYA KIM ATIENZA – Officially leaving after 17 years of being in service is Kuya Kim Atienza and this is his message to the ABS-CBN network.
Kuya Kim entering the GMA grounds was captured in a photo and it went viral. This has sparked transfer speculations and was fueled by the teasing photos from the GMA network about the coming of “Kuya”. In a previous article, he said through an online live stream that the transition is real and this Friday, just as he promised, he made an announcement and confirmed his transfer.
He’s been serving the people as the Kapamilya network’s weather reporter for 17 years. And last night, he made his last appearance as a Kapamilya and for the last time, he said his iconic line, “Ang buhay ay weather-weather lang”.
In TV Patrol, emotional and in croaking voice, he bid his goodbye to his Kapamilya viewers. He also expressed his gratitude to his colleagues and mentors. He thanked his boss Ging Reyes for all the things that she has taught him that made him the “Kuya Kim” of TV Patrol and chief operating officer of broadcast Cory Vidanes for her trust in him.
He also thanked the network’s CEO and president Carlo Katigbak who continues to show them concern and inspiration. Kuya Kim special mentioned all the persons he has worked with like Noli “Kabayan” de Castro, Bernadette Sembrano, Henry Omaga-Diaz, Gretchen Fullido, Karen Davila, Julius Babao, and Amy Perez.
The weatherman recalled all the programs he’s a part of such as Magandang Umaga Bayan, Magandang Umaga, Pilipinas, Umagang Kay Ganda,and Matanglawin that won 200 awards throughout the years it has aired. He aired, “Salamat, Ka Ernie Baron, dahil ipinagkatiwala mo sa akin ang isang malaking responsibilidad. Higit sa lahat, salamat sa inyo mga Kapamilya sa pagsubaybay at pagsuporta. Si Kuya kim ay di magiging Kuya Kim kung di po dahil sa inyo.”
