Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) spoke on the eight (8) active cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant in the Philippines. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire expressed that they are considered “non-infectious”.
According to the DOH Undersecretary, the patients have already undergone their re-testing last July 17 and some of them are continuing their isolation now. She cited the protocol that if the patient finishes 10-14 days of isolation and is not anymore showing any signs of sickness, the patient is declared as recovered.
However, according to the report, in Misamis Oriental, two (2) close contacts of a patient of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the province tested positive for coronavirus. Governor Bambi Emano is hopeful that the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) measure would be implemented again in case the said variant would spread in their province.
Currently, PH is guarding its borders from travelers from India, Indonesia, and several other countries hit by the Delta variant. These nations are experiencing another spike in their cases due to the more transmissible variant.
