Juris Fernandez Explains Why She Will Never Judge Singing Contest
JURIS FERNANDEZ – Former MYMP lead vocalist Juris Fernandez revealed the reason why she will never judge a singing contest.
Filipina singer-songwriter Juris Fernandez started her recording career in a band called ‘MYMP’ (Make Your Mama Proud) together with Chin Alcantara and Mike Manahan. They have released five studio albums and have achieved considerable success.
In 2009, she left MYMP and pursued a solo career the following year. Her first solo album called ‘Now Playing’ consisted of tracks ‘Di Lang Ikaw,’ ‘Don’t Want To Fall,’ and more.
Juris Fernandez also recorded some songs for tv series like Katorse, Rubi, and even in the movie ‘I Love You Goodbye.’ She is married to IT executive Gavin Lim. They are blessed with two children – Giddy and Geordi.
The 42-year-old singer did Valentine’s concert with Jed Madela last month. Based on a report from PUSH, Juris admitted that she still experiences stage fright.
“When you get on stage and you perform and the singing itself which you enjoy doing, nawawala naman yung pakiramdam na yun. A few minutes before the show ako definitely ganun may nararamdaman,” she said.
Juris Fernandez also shared why she will never judge a singing contest. Her fellow singers like Jed Madela, Erik Santos, Christian Bautista, and Moira dela Torre have done stints as judges in various singing competitions but for her she said she does not feel like she’ll go down the same route.
“Ay hindi ko alam. I cannot really say because I haven’t tried it. Pero feeling ko parang ang hirap. I don’t know actually how to express my opinions with other singers also but I guess it’s a good thing na ma-se-share mo din yung makakatulong ka to improve someone…”
“May mga invitation ako dati but I think natataon nung mga panahon na yun ang liliit pa ng mga anak ko or I was pregnant I think at that time. Parang hindi ako makapag-commit , ganyan. Pero kung titingnan ko, pag napapanuod ko sila Jed, parang ang hirap siguro ng pakiramdam na yun na you tell someone your opinion about how they sing kasi kapwa kayong singers eh, parang ganun,” she said.
