Solenn Heussaff Opens Up About Father’s “Really Severe Dementia”

Here’s what Solenn Heussaff shared about her father’s condition.

Kapuso actress Solenn Heussaff revealed that her father is battling “really severe dementia,” a neurological disorder.

Dementia is a neurological disorder characterized by loss of memory and other cognitive difficulties, and this is the same condition that Solenn Heussaff’s father is battling for many years now. 79-year-old Louis Paul Heussaff is the father of the actress who used to be a sailor in the French Navy but is now based in the Philippines with her Filipina mother.

Recently, as she immersed herself in her most elemental self through her art, she revealed that the pieces were inspired by her father. According to her, he is going through “really severe dementia,” and her artworks display her inner turmoil.

“So, basically, that’s the whole sense. It’s like, if you see shadows, or like, plants repeating into shadows, it’s really the moments of, like quiet chaos, internal dialogue chaos. And then, the more colorful parts are really showing that at the end of the tunnel, there’s always still a light waiting out there,” she said.

About her father’s current condition, she shared that while he is still physically alive, things are no longer the same as they were before. He doesn’t know her anymore, and they could not even have a conversation.

He was diagnosed three years ago, but symptoms of the disorder had already begun to appear several years before his diagnosis.

“There’s paranoia, there’s fear, extreme happiness, there’s depression,” Solenn stated, and there were other symptoms, which they thought were just signs of aging. The disorder had already progressed, and since receiving his diagnosis, he has not been the same.

Meanwhile, her exhibit will be on view at Provenance Art Gallery, South Wing, R2 Level, Rockwell Drive, Makati City, until August 30, 2026.
