Liza Soberano Not Afraid Of Antonio Parlade’s Statement

LIZA SOBERANO – Fil-Am actress Liza Soberano is not afraid of Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr.’s “unsolicited advice.”

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Southern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. is also part of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). He recently urged Liza Soberano’s critics to stop red-tagging her or labeling her as one of the members of the terrorist group CPP NPA NDF.

The Kapamilya actress joined Gabriela Youth’s online seminar last week. The group is allegedly a front of the terrorist group. In the webinar, they discussed the issues young women are facing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Antonio Parlade said Liza Soberano could suffer the same fate as Josephine Lapira, the student who was killed during the clash of NPA and government forces in Batangas in November 2017. He also mentioned Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Angel Locsin in his Facebook post.

The legal counsel of Soberano, Atty. Juanito Lim Jr. issued a statement regarding her red-tagging issue. “We denounce in the strongest terms the ‘red-tagging’ of our client, Ms. Liza Soberano in some social media platforms,” he said.

On Friday, October 23, Atty. Lim said Liza Soberano is not afraid of the statement of Parlade about her participation in the webinar. He said the actress will continue to voice out her opinion “without fear or restraint from anyone.”

“Liza is not afraid of this statement from Gen. Parlade. Though I must state that we take note of the general’s advice, unsolicited as it may sound,” Lim said in an interview with ANC.

“However, please know that Ms. Soberano will continue to exercise her constitutionally-protected right to free speech and expression without fear or restraint from anyone. I think I have to make that very clear right now,” he added.
