Elderly Man Sustained Injuries After Being Struck by Van Near Hospital
An elderly man was hospitalized after being struct by a van while crossing near a hospital in Infanta, Quezon.
An 89-year-old man from Sitio Masla, Barangay Sablang in General Nakar was injured after being hit by a van while crossing the road in front of Claro M. Recto District Hospital. The senior citizen had been receiving medical care as an outpatient and decided to leave the hospital to buy a meal from a nearby eatery located across the street.
According to reports, the elderly man left the hospital waiting area without informing the companion who was with him. Unaware of his plans, the companion only learned about the incident after the accident had already happened.
CCTV footage showed that the man appeared to take proper precautions before crossing. He reportedly looked both ways and used the designated pedestrian lane. However, a van suddenly approached, leaving him with little time to avoid being hit.
The collision caused the elderly man to suffer injuries to his ribs and swelling on his face. The force of the impact alarmed witnesses and hospital personnel, who immediately ensured that he received medical attention.
Because of his condition and advanced age, doctors decided to keep him under hospital care instead of allowing him to return home. Medical staff want to closely monitor his recovery and rule out any hidden injuries that may not be immediately visible.
The patient is scheduled to undergo an X-ray and CT scan. These tests will help doctors determine the full extent of their injuries and identify any possible complications resulting from the accident.
