DOE Announces Another Oil Price Hike This Week
FUEL PRICE UPDATE – Various gasoline stations are set to implement another oil price hikes starting this week.
On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Filipino motorists are set to feel another increase in fuel costs this week as oil companies prepare to adjust pump prices. The latest adjustments come amid continuing uncertainty in the global oil market, which has kept fuel prices elevated in recent months.
Several fuel retailers have already begun announcing their adjustments. Shell Pilipinas confirmed that it will implement the following price adjustments:
- Gasoline: Rollback of up to P1.00 per liter or increase of up to P1.00 per liter
- Diesel: Increase of P2.62 to P4.62 per liter
- Kerosene: Increase of P2.22 to P4.22 per liter
DOE Secretary Sharon Garin explained that the latest price movements are linked to renewed tensions in the Middle East. Concerns surrounding the safety of oil shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest energy routes, have pushed international crude oil prices higher.
As a result, local fuel prices continue to feel the impact of developments taking place thousands of kilometers away.
The DOE noted that if global oil prices remain highly unstable, the agency may revise the way it announces weekly fuel adjustments. Instead of providing a price range, authorities are considering setting a fixed maximum or minimum adjustment to help address ongoing market volatility and give consumers a clearer picture of expected price changes.
“Next week, if things are still volatile, then we will prescribe wala na po ‘yung range, kundi ‘yung definite amount whether maximum or minimum, whether it’s rollback or hike,” Garin said.
Despite the increases, the country’s fuel reserves remain sufficient. Government data show healthy inventory levels for gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and LPG.
