Ogie Diaz Defends Liza Soberano Against Red-tagging
OGIE DIAZ – Kapamilya host-actor-manager Ogie Diaz took to Twitter to hit back at a vlogger who red-tagged actress Liza Soberano.
Filipina-American actress Liza Soberano was one of the guest speakers at the Gabriela Youth’s event called “Tinig ni Nene: Reclaiming Our Voice on the International Day of the Girl Child.” She discussed the issues young women are facing amid the pandemic.
A day after she spoke at the webinar, netizens made the hashtag #BoycottLizaSoberano trend. A vlogger named DDS Princess accused Liza of becoming a member of the terrorist group CPP NPA NDF.
In the description of a Youtuber named Maui Becker, she wrote “Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano joins Gabriela Youth, a front of the Communists!”
“LIZA SOBERANO, MIYEMBRO NA NG NEW PEOPLE’S ARMY?” the title read.
In the livestream, the vlogger played a portion of Liza’s speech. “I was afraid that people would judge me. They would say what do I know, I’m just a girl, I’m just an actress,” Liza said in the seminar.
In response to Liza Soberanos’ remark, Maui said, “Yes, tama. Ganon, intindihin mo na lang ang trabaho mo. Pero sige, kalayaan mo ‘yan pero make sure lang na knowledgeable ka sa mga bagay-bagay.”
“Eh ngayon mukhang wala kang alam na ‘yung Gabriela ay salot sa lipunan, miyembro ng mga terorista at komunista, rebelde, NPA, front ng NPA. At wala kang ka ide-ideya. E kung ganyan na wala kang kaalam alam Liza, e manahimik ka. At hands off our children, Liza, you stupid b****,” she went on.
Liza Soberano’s manager Ogie Diaz couldn’t help himself from reacting to the vlogger’s statement. He took to Twitter to hit back at the red tagging incident through a series of tweets.
In Ogie Diaz’s last Tweet, he pointed out that Liza Soberano was not paid for her participation in the webinar.
