LIZA SOBERANO – Read the statement of Liza Soberano’s legal counsel regarding the controversial red-tagging issue.

Fil-Am actress, endorser, and vlogger Liza Soberano became a hot topic on all social media platforms after she appeared on the online event of Gabriela Youth. In the webinar, they discussed the issues of the young women are facing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A day after Liza spoke at the event, Twitter users made the hashtag #BoycottLizaSoberano trend. They criticized her for allegedly joining the alleged front of the terrorist group CPP NPA NDF.

Lt. General Antonio Parlade Jr. took to National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict’s (NTF-ELCAC) Facebook page to warn Liza Soberano on her ties with Gabriela Youth Group. He cleared the name of the actress from any communist influence.

Parlade said Liza could suffer the same fate as Josephine Anne Lapira, the student who was slain during the clash of the government forces and NPA in Batangas in 2017.

“It’s a pity she learned about non-sense things like nabbing a firearm, exploitation while already inside the ground. It was too late, she is dead. The choice is yours, Liza,” he said.

Liza Soberano’s legal counsel Jun Lim issued a statement regarding her red-tagging issue. It was released on Thursday, Oct. 22.

“We denounce in the strongest terms the ‘red-tagging’ of our client, Ms. Liza Soberano, in some social media platforms. Expressing her love and respect for women and children is her personal advocacy.”

“Ms. Soberano remains to be apolitical. She does not support nor antagonize any person’s political views. The important point here is respect for others, a virtue she has conscientiously practised all her life.”

“We, thus, call on everyone concerned to be circumspect in associating our client with their respective beliefs, whatever it may be.”
