LIZA SOBERANO – Gabriela Women’s Party expressed their solidarity with Liza Soberano and lauded her courage for speaking up against the abuses.
On Tuesday, Kapamilya star Liza Soberano appeared on a webinar with the youth arm of Gabriel Woman’s Party as one of the special guests discussing the issues young women are facing amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She’s a guest speaker in “Mga Tinig ni Nene: Reclaiming Our Voice on the International Day of the Girl Child.”
Previously, the 22-year-old celebrity filed a cyber libel complaint against an internet provider employee who made a malicious remark about her after she called out an internet service provider (ISP) for their poor service. She said, “I wanted to take a stand for all the silent victims of r*pe.”
A day after Liza Soberano spoke at the webinar, lots of netizens made the hashtag #BoycottLizaSoberano trend. In a previous article, a Youtube vlogger named DDS Princess criticized the actress for “joining” Gabriela Youth. The organization is allegedly the front of the terrorist group CPP NPA NDF.
A netizen named Mark Lopez tagged her as “terrorist.” Some netizens find his post ridiculous had funny.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas on Saturday expressed solidarity with Liza Soberano. She also lauded her courage to stand against gender-based violence. She said they did not expect this kind of bashing against the young actress.
“Nakakalungkot, hindi naming in-expect ang ganitong paninira kay Miss Soberano…”
“Her courage to speak out against gender-based violence amid the intensifying culture of impunity should be admired rather than silenced and criticized,” she said.
According to the report, Brosas also paid tribute to Liza’s commitment to the right of women. She said she’s also looking forward to the participation of the actress in the online celebration of the 20th anniversary of Gabriela Women’s Party this coming Oct. 25.
“Hindi terorismo ang paglaban sa abuso. Be a Liza Soberano in this country being led by macho-fascist officials. We call on more public personalities to use their platforms to promote human rights, something that is badly needed today amidst the many forms of violence being promoted by the highest officials of the land.”
