President Duterte “Shoot Them Dead” Order, PNP Says They Won’t Follow

PNP speaks about the “shoot them dead” order of President Duterte on Wednesday night.

PRESIDENT DUTERTE – The Philippine National Police says they won’t follow the “shoot them dead” order of President Rodrigo Duterte, April 2.

Based on a previous report, President Rodrigo Duterte said, during his nation address aired on Wednesday night, April 1, an order for the troops to shoot the people dead who cause trouble amid the lockdown. This came hours after residents from Sitio San Roque made a protest along EDSA.

The “shoot them dead” order from the president will be done accordingly if ever the lives of the law enforcers will be put at risk due to unrest protesters violating rules and regulations of the enhanced community quarantine. He is not accordingly afraid and will not hesitate to use violence if people would ask for a chaos.

With this, on Thursday, April 2, Philippine National Police said they won’t follow the order of Duterte. The chief Director General Archie Gamboa told ANC that they won’t follow for the president, according to his statement, was just “overemphasizing” the law to be implemented, especially now, in this time of a major health crisis.

Meanwhile, the persons who got arrested after protesting due to hunger and lack of assistance from their local government will face charges. The PNP chief stated according to report from ABS-CBN, “Sana naman they should not resort to these things. We’re mandated to enforce the law. People should understand that patience should be there.” 

And to those abusive police officers in enforcing the law will not be condoned. A policy of PNP indicates “exercise maximum tolerance and within the bounds of the law”.
