Awra Briguela Opens Up on Why People Are Comparing Her to Catriona Gray
AWRA BRIGUELA – Social media personality Awra Briguela did not expect that her recent transformation would draw comparisons to beauty queens Catriona Gray and Kendra Kramer.
Social media personality Awra Briguela has candidly opened up about her transition journey and the personal decisions she has made as part of her transformation.
During her guest appearance on “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” Awra shared that she officially began her transition this year. Aside from seeking guidance on hormone intake, she also decided to undergo physical changes that would help her feel more confident and comfortable with herself.
“This year po talaga nag-start po ako mag-transition. What I mean by that, this year nag-start po akong mag-consult sa endocrinologist sa tamang pag-inom po ng hormones ko and kasama rin po ‘yung physical transformation ko po, hindi lang po sa pag-transition ko into transgender woman po,” said Awra.
One of the major decisions she made was undergoing rhinoplasty, or a nose job. Awra clarified that her decision was not rooted in insecurity about her nose. Instead, she believed that changing its appearance could further enhance her overall facial features.
“Hindi ko naman po talaga insecurities ‘yung ilong ko. Pero napansin ko po kasi at na-realize ko na malaking factor din po talaga ‘yung ilong para ma-enhance ‘yung buong mukha po. Feeling ko po mas may igaganda pa ako ‘pag pinaayos ko po ‘yung ilong ko. Kaya matagal ko rin po siyang pinag-isipan at pinagdesisyunan, na ‘yung magiging first surgery ko po ever is ‘yung ilong po.”
Awra said she was extremely pleased with the results, especially because she saw positive changes sooner than she had expected.
“Kasi ang ini-expect ko po is mga after a month ko pa makikita ‘yung result pero in just two weeks po and even now na one month na siya, maganda po ‘yung resulta. Kaya super thankful po talaga ako na naging maayos po,” she said.
She also revealed that Spanish model Cindy Kimberly was originally her inspiration when she decided on the look she wanted for her nose.
“Opo, may ginaya po ako. Ang peg ko po talaga originally is si Cindy Kimberly po, Spanish model po siya.
“Hindi ko po in-expect na si Catriona [Gray] po o si Kendra [Kramer] po ‘yung magiging kamukha po sabi po nila,” said Awra.
The transformation also gave Awra a noticeable boost in confidence, particularly after seeing the positive reactions from people online. Although she initially kept her procedure private and only shared it two weeks after her operation, she was delighted by the support she received.
“Kasi marami pong tao ‘yung na-amaze din po sa transformation ko. Medyo matagal ko rin po siyang tinago kasi nag-post po ako nu’ng magaling na po ako, two weeks after the operation. Hindi ko po agad siya pinost po.
“And iba po ‘yung naramdaman kong saya kasi marami rin pong nagandahan and marami pong um-agree na bagay po sa akin ‘yung ilong ko and ‘yung desisyon ko po tama po,” Awra said.
