Taytay Mayor Joric Gacula Tests Positive for 2019 Novel Coronavirus
TAYTAY – The mayor of Taytay, Rizal, Joric Gacula, disclosed that he tested positive for 2019 novel coronavirus disease.
The Philippine government has imposed several measures to stop the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus. On March 16, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte placed Luzon under “enhanced community quarantine” to prevent a nation widespread of the deadly virus from China.
The number of coronavirus cases in the county continues to increase. Celebrities and politicians have been infected with COVID-19.
Recently, another politician from Luzon tested positive for the virus. The mayor of Taytay, Rizal Joric Gacula announced on Facebook that he tested positive for COVID-19 disease. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon) climbed to 159 with 18 deaths.
Mayor Joric Gacula said he began experiencing the coronavirus symptoms on Tuesday. He said he has a “mild case” of coronavirus.
“Noong Martes ng umaga, nakaramdam po ako ng pangangati ng lalamunan, at nakaramdam ng ginaw at nakaexperience ng sinat o tinatawag na slight fever. Agad po ako kumonsulta sa family doctor…”
“Ang pinayo ng doctor ay unang-una mag self quarantine. Pangalawa, binigyan ako ng medication para sa aking mga nararamdaman, at pangatlo bilang may symptomas dapat raw po ay mag-undergo ako sa COVID-19 test,” he added.
Gacula assured the people in his town that the relief operations will continue and asked them to follow the ECQ guidelines. “Napakaingat ko po, pero dito makikita na walang pinipili and COVID-19. Walang pinili ang sakit na ito,” he said.
