DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III Calls Doctors Who Died in Line of Duty As Heroes
DOH – Health Secretary Francisco Duque III called the doctors who died due to coronavirus as heroes.
The Department of Health (DOH) the number of people infected with the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 on Sunday, March 22 has jumped to 380 with 25 deaths and 17 recoveries. Three days ago, Italy surpassed China for the most number of COVID-19 deaths.
The Health Department discouraged doctors to use the rapid test kits for coronavirus because it may give false-negative results. The front liners in the country received recognition for their service to the Filipino people amid the pandemic. They are among those exempted from the work from home arrangement.
Some of the front liners got infected while fulfilling their duties. In a previous article, the Philippine Heart Association announced that two doctors died due to coronavirus.
“We deeply mourn the passing of a Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Medicine alumnus who chose to serve the country but lost his life in the fight against COVID-19,” PLM said.
Based on a report from DZBB Super Radyo, Health Secretary Francisco Duque said the doctors who died in the line of duty battling coronavirus were heroes who risked their lives for the sake of their countrymen.
“Tayo’y nakikiramay sa kanilang mga pamilya. Ito’y bayani na talaga namang binuwis nila ang buhay nila para sa pangangalaga sa kanilang kapwa mamamayan na may sakit.”
“Saludo ang mga Pilipino sa mga pumanaw na health workers,” he added.
According to the report, DOH Secretary Francisco Duque said those doctors will be given the proper honor once the country recovers from the COVID-19 crisis.
“Hindi na mapapalian ang mga buhay ng mga ito… bibigyan natin sila ng tamamng pagkilala,” he said.
