Tabaco City Mayor Says Typhoon Rolly is Worse Than Typhoon Reming in 2006
Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro described Typhoon Rolly as ‘Mas masahol po ito sa Reming’, as the town seeks foods and house materials.
On Thursday (November 5, 2020), Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro said that the residents in Tabaco City, Albay are now seeking for foods and housing materials after devastated by two consecutive typhoons.
Luisto said that Super Typhoon Rolly is one of the worst tropical cyclones to hit the town over the past few decades. Rolly damaged several heritage structures and numerous houses in the city. She also said that Rolly is worse than Typhoon Reming in 2006.
“This is the worst typhoon recorded since Typhoon Trix in 1952. Mas masahol po ito sa Reming,” Luistro said.
Typhoon Trix in 1952 took the lives of around 995 people ion Bicol Region while Typhoon Reming left around 734 people dead in 2006.
Around 3,000 residents remain in evacuation centers after Typhoon Rolly uprooted trees and destroyed their homes. The typhoon also unroofed some evacuation centers.

“It is better than bumalik sila sa damaged homes nila. At least sa isang lugar dun na lang namin itututok ang resources namin kasi again scarce ang resources,” the town mayor said.
