Lawyer of Sen. Bato dela Rosa Believes Senator Still in PH
BATO DELA ROSA – The lawyer of the Senator, Atty. Israelito Torreon, spoke on the whereabouts of the lawmaker amid his rumored arrest.
In May, Sen. dela Rosa appeared in the Senate again after six months of alleged hiding. It was in time when the senators voted for the ouster of then-Senate Pres. Tito Sotto who was replaced with Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano. According to Dela Rosa, it was allegedly Cayetano who contacted him and had him fetched.
Shortly after a change in leadership in the Senate, an alleged firing incident took place at the second floor of the Senate building. Amid the tension, Dela Rosa who is reportedly faced with an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) exited the premises of the chamber.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously called the said firing incident in the chamber as allegedly “fake”. The President was extremely disappointed as to how far the incidents in the Senate have reached.
Sen. Robin Padilla was criticized for allegedly helping Sen. Bato dela Rosa “escape”. The actor-turned-Senator denied helping in the supposed escape of his fellow Duterte-ally. He claimed that they were allegedly simply walking out of the chamber’s premises then.
“Pilipinas ito bakit ang isang halal na senador ay kakasuhan dahil sa warrant of arrest ng dayuhan… Naglakad lang kami at sumakay sa sasakyan sa harap ng mahigit na isang libo na pulis,” the Senator claimed.
A complaint of alleged obstruction of justice was filed against Sen. Robin Padilla and Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano before the Ombudsman. Recently, there are rumors that Sen. Bato dela Rosa has allegedly been arrested. His lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon, spoke amid the rumors.
Based on News5, the lawyer of Sen. Bato dela Rosa denied having any idea about the whereabouts of the Senator. He believes that the Senator is still in the country.
“I really do not have any idea as to where [Sen. Bato dela Rosa] is,” Torreon said.
Based on the post, Sen. Bato dela Rosa’s lawyer believes that the Senator remains in the country as flying out will allegedly be harder for him. According to Torreon, doing so will allegedly increase the chance that the Senator will be arrested.
“Mahirap din kasi kung aalis ka ng bansa. Maraming tipsters… Mas malaki ang possibility na mahuli ka kung aalis ka ng bansa,” the lawyer expressed.
Recently, known Duterte ally Atty. Jimmy Bondoc warned that a “bad news is coming” amid the rumored arrest of Sen. Bato dela Rosa.
