Woman Arrested After Facing Multiple Qualified Theft Charges from Former Employer

Woman Faces Multiple Qualified Theft Charges for Robbing Former Employer

A woman in Manila was arrested after being charged with multiple counts of qualified theft by her former employer.

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the warrant of arrest was issued back in 2021. The police revealed that the Regional Trial Court Branch 51 in Manila had filed 17 counts of qualified theft against her.

However, the woman declined to appear on camera and claimed she had no knowledge of the charges against her. She also refused to provide further details about the situation. For now, she remains in the custodial facility of the MPD as the case proceeds.

According to the MPD spokesperson, Police Major Philipp Ines, the woman will have to face the charges in court. If she was unaware of the case filed against her, the court would have sent her a subpoena.

“Base dito sa warrant of arrest niya na nilabas ng RTC Branch 51 ng Manila, 17 counts ng qualified theft yung kanyang kakaharaping kaso,” Ines said.

Ines mentioned that it’s possible she ignored the subpoena or never received it, which led to the issuance of her arrest warrant.

“Haharapin niya yung kaso sa korte at kung wala siyang alam na kinasuhan siya, malalaman naman niya kasing unang una, padadalhan siya ng subpoena ng korte malamang in-ignore niya yan or hindi niya man natanggap yan kaya siya nilabasan ng warrant of arrest,” Ines added.

In a related event, the MPD also arrested a man involved in a robbery case in Quezon City. Similar to the woman, the man refused to appear on camera and claimed he had no idea why he was charged with the crime.

The suspects will now face their respective charges in court, where they will have the opportunity to defend themselves. The police continue to investigate both incidents to ensure proper legal action is taken.
