Street Dweller Killed After Stabbing Incident in Manila, Suspect Arrested
A street dweller loses his life after being stabbed by a man he reportedly confronted earlier that day in Manila.
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, a man tragically passed away after he was stabbed by a man he confronted in Barangay 660-A, Ermita, Manila.
Authorities identified the suspect as a 35-year-old man from Leyte who was immediately arrested after the incident. According to Barangay Kagawad Aries Calaustro, the victim and the suspect had an argument earlier in the morning, which even escalated into a fistfight.
“Naatasan kasi siyang manita nung mga street dweller diyan sa kabilang side ng San Marcelino so nakasagutan niya siguro kaninang umaga tapos ang kwento pa nung iba diyan kasama nagsuntukan nga daw,” Calaustro said.
The suspect admitted to the crime, explaining that he was simply resting when the victim approached him and asked him to leave. He claimed that the victim grabbed his jacket, which tore, sparking the violent encounter.
“Kinursunada niya po ako. Wala naman po akong ginagawang masama eh,” the suspect said.
The culprit also shared that he had been trying to sell his phone earlier that day to buy food but was unsuccessful and decided to rest nearby.
Police recovered the 9-inch knife used in the crime, which was hidden in front of a nearby hotel.
Merycris Dotimas, the victim’s live-in partner, shared the heartbreaking moment when the attack happened. She recalled that they were sleeping with their child when the suspect suddenly appeared and stabbed the victim.

Dotimas and her partner tried to chase the suspect, but her partner collapsed on the road from his injuries.
Now, she faces the added burden of arranging for her partner’s remains, expressing sadness that she may struggle to claim the body because they were not legally married.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Manila Police District and faces murder charges. Residents hope that justice will be served for the victim and his grieving family.
