Elderly Woman Lost P40, 000 Cash After She Was Hypnotized by Group of Suspects

An elderly woman from Tondo, Manila was hypnotized and robbed of P40, 000 by unidentified individuals.

On June 15, 2025, a female senior citizen went through a terrifying experience after she was allegedly hypnotized, harmed, and robbed by a group of suspects.

According to her relatives, the senior citizen was on her way home from the market when she was approached by a man, followed closely by a woman. The strangers convinced her to go with them and led her to a nearby parked car.

“Parang na hypnotize naman ang kamaganak ko sumama siya,” the relative said.

Without realizing the danger, the woman followed them, possibly under the influence of hypnosis. Once inside the car, she found two more individuals, a man who was driving and another woman sitting inside. That’s when the suspects announced the robbery.

“Parang yung biyenan ko na corner na… Nung di pa umaandar yung kotse sinabi na nga na, ‘Wag kang papalag’. Ninerbyos na yung biyenan ko nagkakawag na siya… Pumalag na ba… Tapos ayaw niya… Dahil pumapalag si nanay sinampal siya nung babae. Sapak daw eh dahil may pasa yung biyenan ko sa mukha,” she added.

The woman was reportedly beaten when she resisted. They forcibly took P40,000 in cash that she was carrying along with her jewelry. She ended up with bruises on her face from being slapped and punched by one of the suspects.

She was blindfolded and brought to another location. Eventually, the suspects dropped her off in the Divisoria area. They returned her IDs and gave her some money for transportation before fleeing the scene.

The victim was able to go home and tell her family what happened. Her grandchildren went to the barangay to report the crime and check the CCTV footage. In the video, the elderly woman could be seen being followed by a man and a woman, believed to be the suspects.

Barangay officials confirmed that the suspects wore caps and masks, making it hard to identify them. Authorities also said that this type of scheme has been used in other areas, often targeting elderly people in markets.

Police are still investigating. Officials remind the public to avoid bringing large amounts of cash or wearing expensive items when going out, especially in crowded places.
