Quezon City Councilor Alfred Vargas and his wife, Yasmin, filed a complaint against the parents of a minor who is bullying their son. In a statement, the couple said they were compelled to take legal action after witnessing a troubling situation that affected their child.
The complaint was filed against the parents because they allegedly failed in their legal duty under the Family Code to properly discipline their eight-year-old son. The Vargas family added that even though the parents already knew about similar past incidents during swimming sessions, they allegedly failed to take action to prevent it from happening again.
Recently, in an Instagram post, Rob Sy, the father of the alleged bully, broke his silence following the filed complaint and firmly denied the claims that his eight-year-old son was involved in bullying.
In a strongly worded statement, Sy expressed that he has always been someone who avoids conflict and values peace and respect, even in difficult situations. However, the recent incident has pushed him to speak out due to what he called the continued mistreatment of his family, especially his son.
He then added that he and his partner, Jovelle, are ready to face the complaint filed before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
“Sa aming mga Pamilya at mga Kaibigan, humihiling po kami ng Dasal at Pang-unawa, at Makakaasa po kayo na buong tapang naming haharapin ni Jovelle ang nasabing reklamong isinampa sa Manila City Prosecutor’s Office na di umano nambully ang aming anak,” he wrote.
As a father, it pains him to hear the accusations against his son, and he stressed that the claims are not true. According to him, the narrative has allegedly been twisted.
Despite the challenge, he assured the public that they would stand firm and fight for the truth.
