Actor-politician Alfred Vargas has this revelation about the parents of his son’s alleged bully.
After filing a complaint against the parents of the alleged bully, actor-politician Alfred Vargas revealed that the father is also an actor.
Quezon City Councilor Alfred Vargas and his wife, Yasmin, filed a complaint against the parents of a minor who is bullying their son during swimming lessons. As parents, it hurt them to know this, and it hurt them more when they witnessed the kind of bullying their child had been going through.
Alfred regretted not doing it sooner, but recently, he and his wife filed the complaint together, suing the bully’s parents for violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
“Mayroon pa ngang ginawa yung bully na hindi talaga appropriate at sobrang sakit sa kalooban namin. Kinadyot niya ‘yung anak ko sa malaswang paraan at nung nakita ng misis ko at sinabi sa nanay, tinawanan pa ng nanay at sinabi, ‘He’s just dancing!’” Alfred said, and added, “Every time we go to the parents to try to resolve these issues, we were either dismissed or gaslighted.”
After filing the complaint, Vargas granted an interview with PEP and expressed how painful it is to them as parents. According to him, the father of the alleged bully is also an actor named Rob Sy.
Rob Sy was a part of Survivor Philippines Season 1 in 2008, and after the stint, that was when his career in show business started.
It was reported that Rob and his wife will be facing the complaint because they allegedly failed in their legal duty under the Family Code to properly discipline their eight-year-old son.
According to the Vargas family’s press statement, even though the parents were already aware of similar past incidents during swimming sessions, they allegedly did not take proper action to stop the dangerous behavior from happening again.
