PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Maymay Weakens Into LPA
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical depression Maymay has weakened into a low pressure area.
On Thursday (October 13, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released the latest weather update in the country. Maymay will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Maymay has weakened into a low pressure area. However, Maymay’s threat of heavy rains remains while two active tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) are being monitored.
The LPA formerly called Maymay has been last spotted over the coastal waters of Casiguran, Aurora. All Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals have been lifted. Another low-pressure areas has been spotted at 535 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan.
“Kaninang alas-dos ng umaga, humina na as low pressure area itong si Tropical depression Maymay, and as of three in the morning, nasa vicinity na ito ng bayan ng Casiguran, sa Aurora. Ngayon po, itong low pressure area, plus the shearline ang nagpapa-ulan pa rin po dito sa malaking bahagi ng Northern Luzon at Aurora,” Pagasa weather forecaster Benison Estreja said.
The LPA will bring cloudy weather condition and scattered rain showers are expected over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Aurora.
PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression outside PAR. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It will be named “Neneng” once it enters PAR.
The weather agency has also warned the public for possible flash floods and landslides.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern Luzon will be rough. The rest of Luzon will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters.
