PAGASA Says Philippines Expect Cloudy & Rainy New Year’s Celebration

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (December 31)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the Philippines will experience a cloudy and rainy New Year’s Celebration.

On Friday (December 31, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and the shear line will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the Shear Line will be affecting Visayas and the northeastern portion of Mindanao while the Northeast Monsoon will affect Luzon.

The shear line will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected over Visayas. Cloudy skies with light rains are expected over provinces of Aurora, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya.

The northeast monsoon is expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Abra, Benguet, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon would experience similar weather condition.

“Nakakaapekto ito (shear line) sa Visayas at gayundin sa Mindanao, kaya’t sa araw na ito at sa pagsalubong ng bagong taon, magiging maulan ang ating panahon lalo na sa Visayas at Mindanao,” PAGASA said.

The weather agency has also warned the residents in the area for possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of Mindanao region will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
