The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that cooler weather with scattered rains are expected over some parts of the country.

On Thursday (December 30, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and the shearline will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the Northeast Monsoon will be affecting Luzon while the Shear Line or tail-end of cold front will affect Visayas and the northeastern portion of Mindanao.

PAGASA

The northeast monsoon is expected to bring cloudy weather condition with light rains over the provinces of Aurora, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy skies to cloudy condition with isolated light rains over Abra, Benguet, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience similar weather condition. The shear line is expected to bring scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Northern Samar while light rains are expected over Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

The shear line can cause possible flash floods or landslides during scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains.

“Sa kasalukuyan ay northeast monsoon pa rin ang umiiral dito sa bahagi ng Luzon kung saan asahan pa rin natin ang malamig na panahon at yung mga tsansa ng mahihinang pag-ulan dulot ng amihan lalong lalo na sa bahagi ng Cagayan Valley maging sa mga lalawigan ng Aurora at Quezon,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.
