Bong Go admitted that he is still not fully grasping his presidential candidacy
Senator Bong Go, the presidential bet of the administration, said on Wednesday that his mind is still resisting the whole idea of running for president in the 2022 elections.
Initially, the close ally of President Rodrigo Duterte filed his candidacy for vice president with the initial expectation that Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will run for the highest position.
However, on the final day of filing the certificate of candidacy, it was Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa who filed for president under the ruling PDP-Laban party but he later withdrew his candidacy.
With this, Bong Go withdrew his vice presidential candidacy and filed his COC for president while Sara Duterte filed her COC for vice president and announced her tandem with former Senator Bongbong Marcos.
Twelve days after the deadline of the filing of substitution, based on the Twitter post of GMA News report Raffy Tima, Go has expressed his uneasiness when it comes to his presidential candidacy.
It was said that he has been conditioning his mind for the position of vice president but when it comes to the presidency, it is a different thing. “The administration’s bet says withdrawing from the race completely is not off the table,” Tima’s tweet stated.
Sen. Bong Go said that it is difficult for him to be in this situation. “Nabigla po ako,” he said. The lawmaker said that the situation of being a presidential candidate now has not fully sunk in. He also said that he feels pity towards his and President Duterte’s supporters.
On the other hand, he stressed that when it comes to serving the people, he is determined. “Buo ang loob ko na magserbisyo po sa aking kapwa Filipino,” he said. When asked about the possibility of withdrawing his candidacy, he answered, “iniisip ko pang mabuti,” adding that he is still waiting for a sign.
