Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte joined forces for next year’s elections
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte confirmed her alliance and tandem with presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos in the 2022 elections.
Supporters of the presidential daughter have been anticipating her candidacy for a national position even though she has already filed for re-election initially. After withdrawing her candidacy for mayor, supporters of her possible tandem with BBM created a loud buzz on social media.
After days of anticipation and speculations about the political plans of BBM and Mayor Sara, the latter has finally announced their team up. Based on the video posted on the official Twitter account of ABS-CBN News, Sara Duterte officially announced that she will be the running mate of Bongbong Marcos.
In her message to the public, she said that the fight just started after November 15. She is confident that her supporters will continue to rally behind her until she achieve the victory that she is aiming for the country and the Filipino people.
The Mayor also expressed appreciation to the support she has been receiving when it comes to her political career. She also encouraged unity.
“Magkaisa po tayong lahat na mga sumusuporta sa administrasyong Duterte. lisa lang naman ang ating mga pangarap – ang pagkakaroon ng mas matatag, mas mapayapa, mas maulad na bansa,” Sara Duterte said.
Then, she officially confirmed that she is having her alliance with BBM but this was not supported by the ruling party PDP-Laban in which her father President Rodrigo Duterte belongs.
“Ang aking partido ay nakipag-alyansa at humingi ng suporta para kay Bongbong Marcos at para sa akin matapos kong tanggapin ang inyong hamon at panawagan. Tinanggihan ito ng PDP at naiintindihan natin ito,” the presidential daughter said.
However, Sara Duterte clarified that she is not stepping on anyone and reiterated her call for support to continue the programs of her father. “The people will make me strong. And it is through our solidarity and unity that we will be able to build a stronger nation,” the Davao City Mayor said.
