One of the presidential aspirants in the Election 2022 is Sen. Bong Go. He is a former long-time aide of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte before he became a Senator in 2016.

Bong Go’s Personal Background

Born on June 14, 1974, Christopher Lawrence Go is a son of a businessman based in Davao City, Desiderio Go. His mother, Marichu Tesoro-Go, is a native of Batangas. He is the grandson of August Tesoro, the founder of one of the biggest printing companies in Davao City.

In high school, Bong enrolled at La Salle Green Hills. He initially took B.S. Management course in De La Salle University but he moved to Ateneo de Davao University where he finished a degree in B.S. Marketing. When President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was still the mayor of Davao City, he served as his personal aide. Even after winning the election in 2016, he remained to be the trusted man of the Chief Executive.

Bong Go’s Political Career

When Pres. Duterte won in 2016, Bong Go became the special assistant to the President and the Head of the Presidential Management Staff until October 2018. In 2019, he ran for a seat in the Senate and secured a spot. He is currently the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography.

The Senator is the standard-bearer of the ruling party PDP-Laban Cusi wing in the upcoming Election 2022. He initially filed his candidacy for vice president but withdrew it after knowing that Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will be vying for the same position. He is close to the First Family. With the encouragement and support of the President, he filed his candidacy for the presidential race next year.
